These are the words of an engaged historian, <strong style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Marc Bloch<\/strong>, who analyzes <q><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">The past in light of the present and the present in light of the past<\/span><\/q>, attributing to <strong style=\"color: #0000ff;\">collective memory<\/strong> a central role in solving <q><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">the problems of the present<\/span><\/q>. <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" style=\"border-radius: 20px; display: block;\" src=\"\/openmemory\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/6_1920x1223-1024x652.jpg\" alt=\"Portrait of an engaged historian\" width=\"200\" height=\"127\"><\/p>\n<\/header>\n<section>\n<p>That\u2019s why it\u2019s essential today to analyze the sedimentations of movements.<br>Since its founding in May 2021, the <strong style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Archive<\/strong> of <strong style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Open Memory<\/strong> has reached many milestones: it was opened to the public in December 2023 and has been consulted by scholars and enthusiasts.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<aside>\n<blockquote>\n<p><strong style=\"color: #ff0000;\">We are now in the digitization phase<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/aside>\n<section>\n<p>The goal of this new milestone, in its first version, is to make accessible online the large amount of material physically housed in the historic headquarters on Vicolo Pontecorvo, in Padua.<br>The work has been managed collectively, as has the entire archive.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/article>\n\n\n\n<article lang=\"en\">\n<section>\n<p>The first challenge we had to face was the quantity and diversity of the documents, which include both paper and multimedia formats.<br \/><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" style=\"border-radius: 20px; display: block;\" src=\"\/openmemory\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/IMG-20220605-WA0019_1.jpg\" alt=\"View of an archive document\" width=\"200\" height=\"140\" \/> The choice we made was to try to ensure a consistent viewing experience across all types of available materials.<br \/>The most demanding task remains the digitization of paper materials and, to date, despite our great commitment, we can only say that we are still in an early phase.<br \/>Our hope is that the approach we\u2019ve taken to the work, and the web solution we\u2019re proposing, will be useful and easy to use; and above all, that it will achieve the goal of sharing with everyone who visits it a historical and human journey that, even after many years, proves to be more relevant than ever.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/article>\n\n\n\n<article lang=\"en\">\n<section>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" style=\"border: solid 1px; border-radius: 20px; display: block;\" src=\"\/openmemory\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/22.jpg\" alt=\"View of a digitized document\" width=\"200\" height=\"113\" \/><\/p>\n<p>In the digitization process, which as mentioned is still <em>work in progress<\/em>, <strong>we prioritized collections that were donated<\/strong>, as they have greatly enriched the documentary material. We also decided to divide the content into seven categories: <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">documents<\/span>, <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">audio<\/span>, <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">video<\/span>, <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">magazines and periodicals<\/span>, <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">press archive<\/span>, <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">library<\/span>, and <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">images<\/span>.<br \/>The goal is to build a meaningful container\u2014that is, a portal that is truly useful and accessible. <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">The feedback from those who will use the archive is therefore of fundamental importance<span style=\"color: #000000;\">.<\/span><\/span> All constructive criticism, suggestions, and reports of errors or malfunctions are welcome.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/article>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-9d6595d7 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons is-content-justification-center is-layout-flex wp-container-core-buttons-is-layout-16018d1d wp-block-buttons-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-button has-custom-width wp-block-button__width-100 ticss-f2ffbc6a\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link has-neve-link-hover-color-background-color has-background wp-element-button\" href=\"https:\/\/www.openmemory.it\/archive\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Visit the Archive<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Never before in this historical moment must we cling to our history.
